Pick your own cut flowers and healing herbs

Welcome to Slow Blooms

Slow Blooms is a special garden where you can pick your own cut flowers and herbs for cooking and healing - all grown sustainably, following permaculture ethics. Located in Matakana, just north of Auckland, New Zealand.

Slow Blooms was created by Rebecka Bjelfvenstam Keeling in 2020, drawing from her experience of similar gardens in her native Sweden. Rebecka holds an international Permaculture Design Certificate and a NZ Horticulture Certificate. She is passionate about growing flowers for her local community in their natural season.

How it works

  1. Borrow a basket or a bucket from the shed.

  2. Select a pair of snips - parents cut for their kids.

  3. Wander through the rows and select your favourite blooms.
Keep your feet on the grass and cut stems just above a set of leaves.

  4. Return your basket, bucket and snips to the shed.
Tie a piece of twine around your blooms if you like.

  5. Pay at the shed, or inside Charlies if the shed is not staffed.

And remember to stop and smell the flowers!
